We are the men and women who do the hard, dirty and sometimes dangerous work of building the state, city and local infrastructure throughout the United States and Canada. LIUNA members are represented on the job by Local Unions.
The members of LIUNA are on the forefront of the construction industry a sector that is a powerhouse of 12 million workers producing 5 percent of the USA economic output. It is one of the most diverse and effective unions representing public service employees.
A half-million strong, we are united through collective bargaining agreements which help working families earn family-supporting wages, good benefits and the opportunity for advancement through hands-on, quality training.
SOUTHWESTERN ILLINOIS LABORERS’ MEMBER RESOURCES
Illinois Laborers & Contractors Joint Apprenticeship & Training Program
As a construction worker in today’s ever-evolving jobsite, it can be a challenge to maintain skills at or above the industry standard. But as a Labor union worker, you receive the hands-on training needed to learn new skills to continue to excel on the jobsite. In the early 1970’s, the Illinois Laborers & Contractors Joint Apprenticeship & Training Program (ILCJATP) was established which gauged and encompassed the specific training needs of construction workers. From the outside terrain and covered timber lands surrounding the four specifically located training facilities, to the mocked construction jobsite training structures that are located conveniently on campus grounds, the ILCJATP established these training facilities with the construction worker in mind. Students receive specialized hands-on training in various fields of the construction industry giving them a competitive edge above unskilled workers. Check out the ILCJATP Course Descriptions and download the Training Schedule. Contact a Training Center below to register for a course, or to begin a new journey in apprenticeship or to complete an Associates Degree at a participating accredited college.
